Maldita.es participates in the European consortium AI4TRUST to create artificial intelligence technologies to fight disinformation

Maldita.es is one of the 17 organizations participating in the European project AI4TRUST (AI-based-technologies for trustworthy solutions against disinformation) led by the Italian Bruno Kessler Foundation and whose main objective is to build a technological platform that will allow the detection of possible disinformation in real time, combining technology and human skills.

The project partners from Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Spain, Switzerland and the United Kingdom will work together for 3 years to pool their knowledge and develop a system for the media and other stakeholders that will use artificial intelligence and algorithms to analyze text, audio and video in seven languages to select content with a high risk of disinformation. This content will then be reviewed by fact-checking professionals, who will also provide feedback for further training of the tool.

«The platform», explains AI4TRUST coordinator Riccardo Gallotti (FBK), «aims to become a place where we can evaluate the risk of consuming unreliable information, but above all to create a reliable online environment that, through the participation of researchers , media professionals and policy makers, can facilitate the creation and dissemination of reliable information, automatically countering disinformation».

What Maldita.es contributes

Our journalists and disinformation experts will help in the conception of the project and the tool and will also provide data to the other members of the consortium to train the AI behind the machine. In addition, Maldita.es journalists will also be the ones who will carry out the final tests of the tool.
